Awesome Billboard by TanglePools.com

Billboard by Tangle Pools

My Dad will be celebrating his 90th birthday at the end of February this year. He lives in Edmonton so I try to visit him every 4-6 weeks.

On recent trips to Edmonton where he lives, I have been noticing and looking at the billboards along the highway. There are a lot. Most are on the sides of truck trailers that have been strategically placed in a farmer’s field close to the highway. I find most of the “truckboards” to be uninteresting and advertising pollution. Most have no relevance to me as a driver, as a traveller or as a middle-aged married male.

As an aside, whoever thought of the idea of putting ads on trailers and plunking the trailer into a farmer’s field is brilliant. The benefits for the stakeholders include:

  • Lots and lots of impressions for the company placing the advertisement (potentially generating revenue).

  • Employment and income for the company managing the relationships and providing the mechanism for the advertisements. Most of these trailers with ads are managed by 360 Ads in Calgary.

  • Potential products to buy for people driving by. Hopefully, a need for a consumer or business is eventually satisfied.

This advertisement by TanglePools.com for what looks like a backyard pool is interesting. It grabbed my attention because it breaks the rules for billboard ads - a sample of the product (an actual pool) leans against the structure breaking the common rectangle shape. I’m not planning to buy an outdoor pool (we had lows of -40C in Alberta last week) but I would recommend this company if a friend of mine was thinking of hosting a polar bear swimming party.

What do you think of this advertisement?

September 30, 2020: Update: This type of advertising is no longer allowed in Alberta.
